Our Game Plan:
What is Anthem Wolves?
It is a 9to90 Community Project for everyone who is a Wolf at 🧡 inviting
them to submit a song that could become the Wolves Anthem as we
build up to the 150th Anniversary of WWFC in 2027.
It has the tacit support of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club’s
senior management but it is a Community Project where the ownership
lies entirely with the supporters. The project is open to everyone from 9to90
years of age and driven by the One Pack message of its mission.
What is its Mission?
To develop an Anthem for Wolves that celebrates its history and sends an
empathetic message of hope and optimism. An anthem that recognises
that Wolves FC is the beating heart of Wolverhampton. An anthem that
embodies unity of purpose and pride in our club. An anthem to be sung
wherever fans gather in the world and one that respects the ONE PACK
ideal that:
WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT BUT WE ARE ALL WOLVES
1. Entry is open to everyone who is a Wolf at Heart wherever they may be
2. Seven entry categories to encourage participation:
➢ Schools and youth enterprises
➢ Choirs and larger singing groups
➢ Individuals (duo, trio, quartet)
➢ Fan clubs and associated fan groups
➢ Pubs and social clubs
➢ Youth clubs and organisations for the disabled and retired
➢ Worldwide Wolves clubs
A named independent and experienced panel of Judges, plus representatives drawn
from all sections of the fan base (the Selection Panel) will decide the entries that will
progress to Round 2.
3. Entries should ideally contain your original lyrics inspired by Wolverhampton
Wanderers Football Club with musical accompaniment in any format, or none at
all, using your own composition or established arrangements of any genre and
video should you think it will help. Successful entries will receive production
support for Round Two.
4. Because an anthem is forever, it will not be helpful for your lyrics to allude to any
current player or manager.
5. Consider the age range of The Pack to be in the region of 9to90 and take a generic
approach to your lyrics that reflects our ideal that:
WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT BUT WE ARE ALL WOLVES
Give thought to your entry potentially being sung by thousands of fans at
Molineux Stadium. A good starting point is to imagine the atmosphere at Anfield
with thousands of scarves swaying to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. If Anfield can do
it so can Molineux!
7. Should an entry be considered inappropriate for any reason it will be returned
with the request that it is edited and resubmitted. Advice will be offered.
8. Entrants or their representatives who contributed to Round One will be invited to
be a part of the final event
9. In Round Two entrants will perform for the Selection Panel in front of an invited
audience drawn from a cross-section of the fan base. Worldwide Wolves
entrants by video link. Production advice and support will be made available to
the successful entrants.
A maximum of TEN successful entries will progress to the final
10. Round Three – the final – will feature the successful entrants from the previous
round performing in front of an audience at a high-profile venue. The judging
panel will consist of well-known guests and representatives of the fan base
locally, nationally and internationally.
11. Every effort will be made to promote transparency and fairness in each round
and the judges’ decisions will be final.
